Timing for Announcement of Bolivian Compensation Award

Rurelec PLC (AIM: RUR), the owner, operator and developer of power generation capacity internationally, today announces that the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague has confirmed that the Bolivian compensation award decision will be released before the end of January .
The PCA will not make the award public on its website until Rurelec has notified the London Stock Exchange.
Shareholders in Rurelec should note that this new timetable for the award announcement is shorter than the seven day timetable originally agreed through the offices of the PCA during the course of 2013 and reflects the fact that shareholders have already suffered from uncertainty as to the outcome of the arbitration for more than eight months following the final arbitration hearing in Paris in April 2013.
The award announcement, which is final, will bring to an end a process started in May 2010 when the Plurinational Government of Bolivia nationalised all of the Bolivian generation interests of Rurelec.

  1. Fraser-

I cant see much reason for RUR not to get pretty close to the amount they claimed here, which at 1.66 exchange rate would add circa £85m to the coffers, excluding any other costs/interest they can bring into the equation. The Bolivian case had no real merits that I could fathom out. Given that RUR gave us a NAV of 17p in their last set of accounts (as at 30/6/13) and this included an accounting value for Bolivia of £53.7m and they have 560m shares in issue, my back of the fag pack says their net asset value could be up to 22.5p now.

Then again they have been developing and adding assets but this has been for new shares issued, so I think we could get a bit more action over the next week.

Then again, who still thinks the markets are rational?? We all know that companies can remain undervalued for years, but the good news here is that RUR have managed to continue to develop their business via borrowings and other methods and they now have a nice little power company, which should be apparent the financial dust settles.

    Cheers. The Leggie

  3. Ian

Thanks- that's a tidy sum to add. Given that "our friend" could be playing the Santiago v London arbitrage card shortly here too, I guess this could be someones favourite share in 2014.

    Best wishes. The Leggie

  5. Morning Leggie and Ian (if he's sober and Leggie for that matter)

I'm loathed to go through a full run down of value at this hour, suffice to say, I have this belief that the NAV quoted may be the SOTP (Sums of the parts) at present (very basic) but doesn't include likely 2015 earnings and beyond. Rurelec (or Roar-a-lec) has some significant growth available and something Sterling Trust Ltd perhaps have a good understanding of.

For those of us buying around the time of the November 11 placing and before, anyone with very large longs should have derisked some! Anyone following the story and buying monthly should be significantly up if spread across CFD/Spread bet and Equity! The benefit of these types of investments are the ability to risk/derisk at well timed intervals. Here's hoping to a fab Friday! haha...but who cares when it comes, there's only 7 days maximum trading.

The secondary listing will benefit all holders in for the long haul...

  6. Fraser, I think I met you at an international arbitration & third party funding in 2012? I found your discussion and understanding very interesting. There's not been an investment that I've had such confidence in. I took your advice in banking profits. 75% in 15mths woah and more to go. If there is anything I can do for Ian or you in return? I forgot the other man's name sorry (the well dressed one). Translation or anything. Thank you ever so much you Rachelx.

  7. Good Afternoon Rachel

Yes the one and the same. If you leave your email details Ian/I will not publish them but there are quite a few things I could use your opinion on that are covered on this thread.

Back to Roar-e-lec Its your money, you took the risks and assume you did research so well done yourself! I have no responsibility for people's profits/losses and as such am always pleased when people make monies.

At least this stock has some excitement to come!!!
